BRIGADIER GENERAL JACQUELINE D. VAN OVOST

Selected for promotion to major general and reassignment as Vice Director, Joint Staff, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Brig. Gen. Jacqueline Van Ovost is the Deputy Director for Politico-Military Affairs (Europe, NATO, Russia), Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate, Joint Staff, the Pentagon, Washington, DC. She is responsible for recommending policy positions on issues related to Europe, Eurasia, and NATO to the Director for Strategic Plans and Policy and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

General Van Ovost was born in Arlington Heights, Ill., and grew up in Fort Pierce, Fla. She graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1988. After earning her wings, she served as an airlift pilot and became a test pilot on the C-17A program as well as an instructor at the Test Pilot School.

During her career, she has commanded an air refueling squadron, flying training wing, and the Presidential Airlift Wing. She also served as the Director of Mobility Forces, U.S. Central Command, for one year. Before her current assignment, General Van Ovost was the Vice Commander, U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center.

General Van Ovost is a command pilot with more than 4,200 hours in several mobility aircraft including the C-32A, C-17A, C-141B, and KC-135R.
