PETER E. KIM

Peter E. Kim, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Air Force Chief Information Security Officer, Headquarters, United States Air Force, Washington, D.C. He is responsible for the oversight, development and execution of the Air Force cybersecurity program to provide confidentiality, integrity and availability for the information and information systems that support Air Force operations and support activities. Additionally, he ensures integrated and synchronized strategic employment of cybersecurity with cyber operations to deny freedom of action to adversaries, accomplish Air Force and joint force commanders’ objectives and enable mission assurance of AF Core Missions. 

Mr. Kim received his commission in 1988 through the Air Force ROTC program at Tennessee State University and retired from active duty on June 1, 2013 in the grade of colonel. He commanded three Air Force communications and information operations squadrons and a Defense Information Systems Agency contracting field office in the Pacific. He held key positions at the squadron, major command, combatant command and joint levels.  He was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in 2013.
