Jeffrey T. Pennington, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is Director of Staff, Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. The Air Force Reserve Command is one of 10 Air Force major commands. With more than 70,000 personnel assigned, it is one of the largest major commands. Air Force Reserve Command’s 35 wings and 10 independent groups operate at nine reserve bases, 54 active duty, joint reserve, Air National Guard bases and five miscellaneous locations throughout the Air Force. The command provides support to each of the other Air Force major commands and to combatant commanders across the globe.
Mr. Pennington graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering. His active duty assignments include completion of undergraduate pilot training at Williams AFB, Arizona, in 1989. He was initially assigned to the 344th Air Refueling Squadron at Seymour Johnson AFB, North Carolina, flying KC-10s and T-38s. Mr. Pennington joined the Air Force Reserve in 1997 as an Air Reserve Technician initially serving in the 70th Air Refueling Squadron, Travis AFB, California.
Mr. Pennington has more than 18 years of federal service, including key assignments as the Director of Operations for the 70th ARS in 2001. In January 2007, he assumed command of the 452nd Operations Group, March Air Reserve Base, California. He remained there until October 2010 when he assumed command of the 911th Airlift Wing in Pittsburgh. Next, he assumed command of the 433rd Airlift Wing in San Antonio. He also served as the Director of Staff, 22nd Air Force. In addition to his current position, Mr. Pennington serves as adjunct professor of organizational leadership at Robert Morris University, Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
