An airman here received 24 months confinement and a bad conduct discharge from the Air Force on Nov. 20 after being found guilty of indecent sexual acts involving minors.

Airman James Hinton Jr., an entry controller with the 78th Security Forces Squadron, pleaded guilty of committing indecent acts with a 15-year-old female and having sex with his wife in the presence of several minors.

He also pleaded guilty of assault for slapping three teenage girls on the buttocks. During the trial, the military judge, Lt. Col. Kevin Koehler, found Hinton guilty of an additional charge of indecent acts, to which Hinton originally pleaded not guilty.

Koehler reduced Hinton's sentence by 11 months after ruling that Hinton's pretrial confinement was illegal. The judge gave Hinton two-for-one credit for the 112 days of pretrial confinement already served.

Hinton also was demoted to the lowest enlisted rank and forfeited all pay.

The findings and sentence adjudged by the court-martial are not final until approved by the officer who convened the court martial, Maj. Gen. Donald Wetckam. He commands Warner Robins Air Logistics Center.

Hinton is in custody at the Houston County, Ga., jail awaiting determination of where he will serve his sentence.
