A Fairchild airman received the Junior Chamber International's Outstanding Young Persons of the World for 2003 award in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Nov. 7.

Capt. Alan Adams, 96th Air Refueling Squadron readiness flight commander, was selected as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans in 2002 and was nominated for the world level in 2003.

The award recognizes annually up to 10 people who exemplify the best attributes of the world's young people, according to the organization’s Web site.

Adams' accomplishments are achieved through his relentless pursuit of ambitious goals and his extraordinary sense of purpose, said Mike Faller, U.S. Junior Chamber president, who nominated Adams for the award.

Each activity he undertakes broadens his leadership skills and further enhances his ability to mobilize others' talents to improve society, Faller said.

Adams said he was impressed with Fairchild's involvement in the community when he arrived and hopes to be a greater contributor in future years.

"I believe that public service links military members to society," he said. "By seeing us interact out in the community, they, in turn, understand our role and feel more protected." (Courtesy of Air Mobility Command News Service)
