Airmen win 2003 Armed Forces Marathon

The Air Force team won the 2003 Armed Forces Marathon, conducted as part of the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington on Oct. 26.

Maj. Mark Cucuzzella finished first for the Air Force with a time of 2 hours, 33 minutes and 37 seconds. He finished 11th overall among more than 18,000 runners in this event. Cucuzzella is assigned to the 140th Medical Group at Buckley Air Force Base, Colo.

Tech. Sgt. Michael Mann was the second airman to cross the finish line with a time of 2:37:31, followed by Capt. Robert Dickie, who finished with a time of 2:40:40. Mann is assigned to the U.S. Joint Forces Command at Norfolk, Va., and Dickie is assigned to Pacific Air Forces headquarters at Hickam AFB, Hawaii.

Maj. Heidi McKenna contributed to the four-person team total of 11:00:01, with a finish time of 3:08:13. She is assigned to Air Force Materiel Command headquarters at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.

The Army team finished second in the championships with a team time of 11:14:59, followed by the Marine Corps total of 11:31:35 and the Navy’s 11:33:54. (Courtesy of Air Force Services Agency)
