T-38

Retired Col. James Gibler (left) speaks with retired Lt. Col. Donald Wheeler March 17, 2011, at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. In the background is a T-38 Talon. Colonel Wheeler was a member of the first class of pilots to train on the T-38. He graduated in 1962. Colonel Gibler was Colonel Wheeler's T-38 instructor. The two men had not seen each other for 49 years. This T-38 has been painted with a special commemorative color scheme, giving the plane an appearance similar to its original 1961 look.
