JPAC team returns from Austria
A memorial stone near the Vostenhof, Austria, site of a B-17 bomber crash recognizes the sacrafice of the crew. The stone was placed by 1st Lt. Stanley Dwyer's family, who were in Austria to witness the excavation of the crash site and attend a memorial service Aug. 27. An 18-member JPAC team, including a forensic anthropologist, explosive ordnance disposal technician and field medic, from Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, returned Oct. 1 after 45 days in Austria attempting to recover the remains of 1st Lt. Stanley Dwyer and gunner Sgt. John Boros who were lost in the crash May 10, 1944.
