1/20/2011 - Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz greets Chief Master Sgt. Antonio Hickey Jan. 19, 2011, at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. During an "all call," the general spoke to Airmen about manning, suicide prevention and the repeal of the law commonly known as Don't Ask Don't Tell. He also answered questions from the Airmen on topics ranging from commissioning opportunities to joint expeditionary taskings. Chief Hickey is the 451st Air Expeditionary Wing command chief. obviously you people that think the green fleece is warm are people that do not work outside. the current issued item is not worth the material it is made out of. there are much better quality garments like the old black fleece which is available in green.

The reason he's wearing the fleece is because it's a thousand times warmer and more comfortable than the APEC. The green fleece is seriously one of the best ideas we've ever stolen from the Army. It was a stroke of unexpected genius by the uniform board.

for warmth comfort and ease of movement I'll take the fleece over the APEC any day of the week - the APEC is actually pretty decent for water resistance though. The price of both items is eye-gouging though, I mean seriously...

The reason most of our Airmen wear the fleece is because it cost 63...APEC cost 178. Don't even get me started on the price of the improved PT gear. I personally don't like the fleece but it is authorized and if it keeps the Chief or any of our Airmen warm then so be it.

Herk three years and still insufficent APEC jackets I thought the force rolled over after I left active duty and adopted the fleece for outerwear. Thanks for the feedback. Now the only thing we need is this Chief or the next to ban fleece as outwear when the APEC is available in sufficient quantities

We LOVE the jacket over the APEX. It is MORE comfortable. Yes I wore it 6 years ago in Iraq for a PJ top because it kept me warm. Get it. It keeps you warm. Met the CSAF. IMHO a GREAT guy, didnt think I would like him but I did. Soft spoken, straight shooter, bet he is glad to be out of DC, and with the REAL Airmen who are doing it. Thanks for coming out CSAF we appreciated it. Airman snuffy.

Chief it is not that he likes pajamas it's the fact that we still can't get enough of the ABU pattern Gore-tex jackets to our Airmen the APEC jacket. So he's trying to blend in by wearing the fleece jacket which most of our Airmen have one day and then you'll see him wearing his APEC jacket in other pictures. Valid point though.

Good to see the Chief out visiting Airmen Sad to see the Chief wearing that pajama top as an outergarmet. It's barely three years since I retired but that was what we slept in during my deployments in the years prior to 2008
