Jobs website continues to ease application process for employees

3/11/2011 - SAN ANTONIO (AFNS) -- Since its implementation in May 2010, more than 180,000 applications have been posted through www.NAFjobs.org.
The Air Force-wide online job board makes it easier for job seekers to find and apply for nonappropriated fund, or NAF, federal job vacancies at Air Force clubs, golf courses, child development centers, youth centers, bowling centers, outdoor recreation centers and many other activities. Currently there are more than 3,500 NAF jobs available worldwide.
"Overall, the new site has been a huge success," said Sandra Austin, chief of human resources and benefits at the Air Force Services Agency. "As with any new application, changes continue to be made that improve functionality for applicants, hiring managers and NAF human resources offices."
To apply for a job, applicants must go to www.NAFjobs.org and create a free profile that includes work background, any military experience and education. Applicants also may upload a resume and other supporting documentation.
Once individuals identify a vacancy they would like to apply for, they click the "apply" button to submit the online application to the servicing NAF human resources office. The NAF system sends every application to the hiring manager for consideration.
The applicant can check the status of his or her application under the "My Applications" tab in "My Profile." Based on the employment category, NAF employees may qualify for benefits similar to those of other federal civilians, including health and life insurance, retirement plans, annual leave and sick leave.
Training tutorials are available for hiring managers and human resource representatives on the Force Support Knowledge Center.
Unlike the nearly 150,000 federal civilian employees paid out of the federal appropriated fund budget, the 25,000 Air Force NAF employees are paid with money generated from NAF activities, such as Air Force clubs and golf courses. These facilities provide a community environment for Air Force families to live, work and play.
