3/19/2011 - ARLINGTON, Va. (AFNS) -- Department of Defense Education Activity officials have established crisis centers to assist parents of its students and employees who are affected by the voluntary relocations from Japan and Bahrain.

The centers -- one each in Virginia, Japan and Germany -- are accessible by phone or email 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, officials said.

Assistance is available in Japan from a Department of Defense Dependents Schools crisis team member by calling 0800-222-1993 or via email at evacuation.japan@pac.dodea.edu. Current operational status of schools in Japan is available on a special Facebook page.

In the United States, the toll-free number is 888-441-1587, where callers will reach a crisis team member from DODEA headquarters here and will get help from an action officer with access to or expertise in transition issues for parents or employees. The email address is evacuation@hq.dodea.edu.

The toll-free number for the crisis center in Wiesbaden, Germany, is 800-19-928 for help pertaining to Bahrain. A Bahrain action team member will answer, and an action officer with access to or expertise in transition issues for parents or employees will help callers. The email address for the Wiesbaden crisis center is evacuation.bahrain@eu.dodea.edu.

"This is a critical time for our families and employees," a DODEA official said in announcing the crisis centers. "We want to assist them in any way in transitioning to their safe haven and in receiving the support and information they need to meet the educational needs of students at the safe havens."
