Golden Age Games coming this month

5/17/2011 - JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii -- The largest sports and recreation event for military veterans age 55 and older, the 25th National Veterans Golden Age Games are coming here May 26-31.

Nine hundred athletes from across the nation are expected compete.

The games are co-sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Canteen Service and Help Hospitalized Veterans, and will be hosted locally by the VA Pacific Island Healthcare System based in Honolulu.

Competitors are scheduled to arrive May 26, with opening ceremonies at Kuroda Field, Hale Koa Hotel, from 7:30 to 8 p.m. Athletic events are scheduled at a variety of venues.
