8/10/2011 - WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio (AFNS) -- Enterprise Sourcing Group officials have announced a new date for the group's first "Air Force Strategic Sourcing Dialogue with Industry" event.

Originally planned for Spring 2011, the event is now set for Oct. 25-26 at the Hope Hotel and Convention Center here.

"This is a great opportunity for current and future suppliers to learn more about the growing importance of strategic sourcing in the Air Force and the Department of Defense," said Carl Shofner, the Enterprise Sourcing Group director.

The theme is "Strategically Partnering with Industry to Improve Efficiency." The event is the first ever held by ESG, co-sponsored by the Dayton Area Defense Contractors Association.

The two-day event includes presentations from senior ESG and Air Force leaders, updates on current and future Air Force installation strategic initiatives, and organizational and commodity council briefings with opportunities for meetings between industry, commodity sourcing managers and squadron representatives.

Air Force Materiel Command officials say the unit will help save the Air Force money and manpower by leveraging its purchasing power, standardizing requirements and eliminating redundant contracting efforts.

ESG executes existing and future contracting workload managed by the Defense Technical Information Center, Air Force Medical Service, Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment, and Air Force Civil Engineering Service Agency. ESG also supports the Air Force mission by managing six Commodity Councils, covering $4.7 billion in strategic sourcing spending.

"Our focus is developing partnerships around the U.S. We are looking for suppliers to provide feedback that could ultimately help shape the future of Air Force strategic sourcing initiatives," Shofner said.

Participating commodity councils include those responsible for sourcing products and services related to civil engineering, force protection, information technology, medical, office and dormitory furniture, office supplies, and advisory and assistance services.

To register for the conference, please fill out the registration form at www.esgdialogue.org.

Sounds like a great time. I WAS going to go to a concert that night but I'm cancelling for this.
