8/16/2011 - ZHUKOVSKY AIR FIELD, Russia  -- The Moscow International Aviation and Space Salon, known as MAKS, is one of the premier events of its type in the world and Department of Defense participation demonstrates the U.S. commitment to international security, promotes international cooperation and contributes to U.S. foreign policy objectives. The U.S. Air Force was well represented this year, with Airmen showing a KC-10 Extender, two F-16C Fighting Falcons, two A-10 Thunderbolt IIs, an F-15E Strike Eagle, a B-52 Stratofortress, a C-130J Super Hercules and a C-5M Galaxy at MAKS 2011.

I fully understand the PR factor in showing our aircraft around the world. But....why Russia?
