Officials seek Pitsenbarger Award nominees

9/16/2011 - RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFNS) -- Air Force Sergeants Association is seeking nominations for the 2012 Pitsenbarger Award.

The AFSA Pitsenbarger Award annually recognizes an Air Force enlisted service member who has performed a heroic act, on or off duty, that resulted in saving a life or preventing serious injury to another person or persons.

The heroic act must have placed the nominee in risk of personal danger and been a legitimate attempt to save life or prevent serious injury to another person or persons. The award period is Jan. 1, 2011, through Dec. 31, 2011.

Nominees must be Air Force enlisted active duty, Guard or Reserve. Each major command, field operating agency and direct-reporting unit may submit only one nomination.

Organizations and base-level personnel must contact their MAJCOM, FOA or DRU for applicable suspense dates and additional information regarding nomination procedures.

Mail nominations directly to Air Force Sergeants Association, ATTN: Military and Government Relations, P.O. BOX 50, Temple Hills, Maryland, 20757-0050 (if you use express mail, send nominations to 5211 Auth Road, Suitland, Maryland 20746) by: March 1, 2012.
