11/21/2011 - SHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. (AFNS) --  An individual from the 50th Security Forces Squadron barricaded himself inside the deployment processing building on base here Nov. 21.

The building was evacuated except for responding law enforcement members.

"Our first responders are trained to handle situations such as this, and we are working with our community partners to resolve this situation as quickly and safely as possible," said Col. James P. Ross, the 50th Space Wing commander.

This situation is ongoing. More details will be provided as they become available.

"The security of Schriever (Air Force Base) personnel and their families is paramount," Ross said. "We are taking every precaution to ensure their safety."

All base members are asked to avoid the west side of the base until further notice.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.

You'd think after actually reading the article the title would be something more worthy of "Schriever responds to barricaded defender" or "Schriever on lockdown" or "Armed security guard barricades self at Schriever." Just saying ...increases security measures almost doesn't even warrant a read of the article. PA-you can attend some writing classes at the ed office IOT write better articles. Other news outlets reveal slightly more info than was released on this sanitized site.
