12/21/2011 - WASHINGTON (AFNS) -- On Dec. 16, the Secretary of the Air Force provided the Secretary of Defense an interim report addressing the disciplinary actions taken in response to substandard management practices and procedures at the Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations Center at Dover Air Force Base, Del.

The interim report consists of a comprehensive summary of the disciplinary actions, the process used, the legal basis for the actions, and the factual record used in determining the appropriate action. The purpose of the report was to gather the facts to ensure a full and complete record of the disciplinary actions. It is the first step in a three-step process the Air Force is using to conduct its review.

Next, Secretary Donley will ask a retired general officer from a Sister service and two experts on federal civilian personnel law for independent assessments of AFMAO's disciplinary actions taken to date. Finally, once he receives these assessments, the Air Force Secretary will review this along with the findings from the Office of Special Counsel's separate and concurrent reprisal investigation, which is still on-going, and provide Secretary Panetta with a final report.

I suspect that the root cause of this gigantic slap in the face to over 2,500 fallen soldiers was money. The gross mismanagement of funds is the downfall of our institution. It's been made blatantly clear that its cheaper to get rid of you immediately and posthumously.
