9/1/2012 - JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas (AFNS) -- Capt. Trevoron L. Jones of Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif., and Mr. Terrence Williams of Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio are the Air Force 2012 Blacks in Government Meritorious Service Award winners, said Air Force Personnel Center officials.
Jones' leadership was instrumental in establishing the Los Angeles Air Force Base Multicultural Organization after being elected as its first president. The organization was created to provide awareness and education to Los Angeles AFB and its surrounding communities. Jones also led a team of seven military officers and 81 contractors in modernizing the $450 million Air Force Satellite Control Network.
Williams assisted special emphasis program managers, base organizations and leaders, and other equal opportunity professionals in their efforts to recruit, hire, train, advance and retain women, minorities and people with disabilities. He led the Wright-Patterson workforce recruitment program to earn recognition as the most improved base in the Air Force.
The awards were presented in August in Detroit, Mich.

9/3/2012 8:06:15 AM ET Why does the Air Force even have this award or any award like it i.e. Katherine Wright Award Any award that has to segregaterace or gender to nominate shouldn't exsist. True equality in the force will not happen as long as these awards are around.

9/2/2012 3:21:55 PM ET Its just as racest to have a award that only a black person can win as it is to have one for only a white person to win
