11/2/2012 - Alexandria, Va. (AFNS) -- Registered military and overseas voters in New York will have additional time to submit a request for an absentee ballot. Due to Hurricane Sandy, the State Board of Elections has extended the deadline for receiving ballot requests by mail or by fax to Friday, Nov. 2.

Voters in New York County (Manhattan) should use the following emergency fax number: 212-465-2135.

Voters in Richmond County (Staten Island) should use the fax number for Bronx County: 718-299-2140.

Voters in Queens County should use the following fax number: 718-459-3384

Voters in Kings County (Brooklyn) should use the following fax number: 718-246-5958

Voters in Bronx County should use the following fax number: 718-299-2140

If you have any questions, please locate and contact your election official at the following link: http://www.elections.ny.gov/CountyBoards.html.

Alternatively, you can contact the New York State Board of Elections at 518-474-6220 or by email at info@elections.ny.gov.

If you have already registered but have not received a State ballot for the November 6th general election, go to FVAP.gov and use the back-up, Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot. For each office listed, select or write-in either a candidate's name or their party designation. If you receive your State ballot after submitting the FWAB, vote and return the State ballot as well. You will only receive one vote as the State will only count your FWAB if the State ballot is not received by the deadline. If your State ballot is received by the deadline your State ballot will be counted and the FWAB will be disregarded.

If you'd like more information on the Federal Voting Assistance Program or need help with the absentee voting process, please visit FVAP.gov for live chat assistance, call FVAP at 1-800-438-VOTE or DSN 425-1584 (CONUS)/312-425-1584 (OCONUS), or email vote@fvap.gov. Remember, you also can contact your unit or installation voting assistance officers.
