from 39th Air Base Wing Judge Advocate

11/30/2012 - INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey (AFNS) -- Airman 1st Class Jose J. Aguilar, 39th Security Forces Squadron, was tried and convicted by a general court-martial Nov. 27, in connection with an incident in which a Humvee driven by Aguilar rolled over, resulting in the death of Airman 1st Class Floyd Glover.

Aguilar pled guilty to negligent homicide for recklessly driving a Humvee and passenger bus on multiple occasions, and being derelict in his duty to remain on the hardened surface and obey speed limits while operating a Humvee. Aguilar also pled guilty to obstructing justice by hiding a video camera before authorities arrived on the scene of an accident.

A military judge found Aguilar guilty and sentenced him to a reduction to the grade of E-1, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, a bad conduct discharge and confinement for three years and nine months. As per the pre-trial agreement, Aguilar will serve no more than three years in confinement.

Aguilar made an unsworn statement in which he expressed remorse for his crimes.
