Master Sgt. John Hickman scans the names of fallen heroes on the U.S. Special Operations Command memorial wall Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at MacDill Air Force Base Fla. Hickman’s journey began at Hurlburt Field, Fla., where he and fifteen other Airmen began their 450-mile march that ended at MacDill AFB to honor five Air Force Special Operations Airmen who were killed in 2012. 2/13/2013 - FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. (AFNS) -- Since 2009, Airmen from the Air Force Special Operations Command have participated in memorial ruck marches to honor special operators who  killed in action during the year.
 
This year, five AFSOC Airmen made the ultimate sacrifice, and 16 of their commrades marched 450 miles along the Gulf Coast of Florida to honor their memories.
