Established by the Air Force, the award recognizes the important contributions and leadership qualities exhibited by Air Force members in the first sergeant career field.

The period of service for this award is Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2012.

Organizations and base-level personnel must contact their major command, field operating agency, direct reporting unit or MAJCOM equivalent for applicable suspense dates and for additional nomination procedure information.

Each MAJCOM, FOA or DRU may submit one nomination.
