Airmen from the Joint Base Langley-Eustis Airman Leadership School in Virginia graduated March 28, 2013. Since graduating, the Airmen are now trained to supervise other Airmen. The Airmen, from different career fields, attend the six week course to learn supervisory skills and it is a prerequisite for becoming a staff sergeant. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Jared Denton)
4/8/2013 - FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. (AFNS) -- A day in the life of the Air Force is as varied as the nearly 500,000 total force Airmen who make up the force. That force ranges from the pilots, crews, maintainers, firefighters and air traffic controllers on the flightline to the battlefield Airmen in harms way to the men and women who keep the Air Force machine running full blast.
The following slide show captures a glimpse of a single day, March 29, and is a compilation of images submitted by Airmen from around the globe.

4/12/2013 10:54:56 PM ET ...and the ops community continues to scratch their heads wondering why support AFSCs have retention issues. Why don't you continue to insult us in order to stroke your own pitiful egos and see how that works out for you. Meanwhile we'll hang in there to help balance out and keep favorable sexual assault and harassment statistics to make you operators look good.

4/10/2013 8:59:20 AM ET Before another day of meetings emails and memos....sounds like a really challenging duty day. I wish my day could be that hard.

4/10/2013 8:27:38 AM ET These comments are great. Normally the comments are complaining that everyone in the AF is not a pilot and can we get some pictures of the other workers in teh AF. Now we have no airplane pictures so we complain about that.

4/9/2013 3:07:54 PM ET Believe it or not...not everybody is a pilot or mechanic. There are a ton of support Airmen keeping our Air Force running full speed.

4/9/2013 2:41:06 PM ET Hey folks hate to admit it to you but there are thousands of AF members like myself at locations without airplanes doing jobs at desks and about as far removed from airplanes as you can get. Not my fault--it's what the AF asked to do. Not everyone in the AF is associated with airplanes. Please respect that and appreciate the efforts of the total team.
Non flyer, a base without airplanes
4/9/2013 12:03:29 PM ET Can I join that Air Force Looks way more fun.

4/9/2013 11:04:42 AM ET The slideshow is a compilation of images received on one specific day -- March 29. We used images from each person who submitted. Unfortunately they didn't represent all aspects of the Air Force.

4/9/2013 9:58:22 AM ET I guess there were no aircraft flying on this day

4/9/2013 8:18:42 AM ET Where are the photos of the Operational Air Force. This is a terrible representation of Airmen. No long hours on the flight line during this day.

4/9/2013 3:44:32 AM ET Does the Air Force not own any erm airplanes or have any erm aircrew Didn't see a single one in that slideshow.

4/9/2013 1:57:33 AM ET Is this supposed to be a joke A day in the life of the USAF and not one picture of someone flying or maintaining an aircraft Guess what guys There's a war going on.

4/9/2013 1:16:13 AM ET Interesting choice of pictures. I see 2 pictures related to musicians and bands but I don't see a single picture depicting an airplane an armed PJJTACSF troop a missile in a silo... or anything else that represents what I would think is a significant portion of a day in the life of the Air Force. Why

4/9/2013 12:58:34 AM ET You're kidding right A slideshow depicting a day in Air Force life and you can't even find one picture with an airplane in it The AIR Force has a few of those you know. There are Airmen who happen to be living every day of their Air Force lives flying and fixing those airplanes. When did the primary mission of our service become an afterthought With two slides apiece apparently PME and bands are now atop the food chain. I guess I didn't get that memo.

4/8/2013 5:09:18 PM ET I find it interesting that this Photo essay did not include any photos of Airmen in harms way or operational training for those missions. March 29 must have been a slow day on the OpsMx side of the force...
