<item><title><![CDATA[Injured Airman celebrates re-enlistment]]></title>

Sgt. Israel Del Toro raised his right hand&#160;Feb. 8 and re-enlisted in the Air Force.<br />
<br />
Maj. Gen Anthony Przybyslawski, the vice commander of Air Education and Training Command, administered the oath of enlistment to Sergeant Del Toro in&#160;the nearly packed base theater.<br />
<br />
General Przybyslawski told an audience of family members, dignitaries, visitors, friends and many first-term Airmen that the sergeant, who spent three months in a coma after his injuries and was given a less-than-20-percent chance of survival, fought for more than four months to stay in the Air Force.&#160; The general&#160;said that Sergeant Del Toro's experience and his desire to serve is something the Air Force needs.<br/><a href="http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123189809">more...</a>]]></content:encoded>

Sgts. Nathan Gallahan and Kenneth Raimondi.<br />
<br />
Sergeant Raimondi, a broadcaster, and Sergeant Gallahan, a print journalist, are traveling throughout Afghanistan for 30 continuous days visiting each of the five regional commands and giving a first-hand perspective of the counter-insurgency mission. <br />
This is the 11th time Cope North has been held here. U.S. and Japan officials have been conducting Cope North exercises since 1978.<br />
<br />

William Fraser III, the commander of the Air Combat Command, for the 2010 air show season. <br />

"Certification is a chance for us to fly the show profile in front of General Fraser," said Maj. Mike Maeder, the newest pilot in the Strike Eagle demo team. "He will sign off on us being ready to fly the air show season."<br />
<br />

</item><item><title><![CDATA[Remains of Air Force officer recovered in Haiti]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Maj. Kenneth Bourland's remains were found Feb. 7 at the Hotel Montana in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, more than three weeks after the hotel collapsed following the 7.0 earthquake Jan. 12.<br />
<br />
Major Bourland, 37, of Birmingham, Ala., was assigned to U.S. Southern Command, headquartered in Miami, and had traveled to Haiti on official business the day of the earthquake.<br />
<br />

<br />
The crash was not due to hostile fire. The crash site has been secured and there were no reports of injuries or property damage.<br />
<br />
The aircraft is a medium-altitude, long-endurance, remotely piloted aircraft. The MQ-1's primary mission is conducting armed reconnaissance.<br />
<br />

the highest standards. <br />
<br />
Decertification was at the request of Brig. Gen. Everett H. Thomas, the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center commander at Kirtland AFB. <br />

<br />
The nine-member crew from the 729th Airlift Squadron took 171,400 pounds of cargo and 25 Army and Air Force servicemembers into Haiti and airlifted 263 evacuees and aid workers out in a C-17. <br />
<br />
March ARB officials have sent six missions and 40 Airmen to help move cargo into and evacuees out of Haiti since Jan. 15 as part of Operation Unified Response. <content:encoded><![CDATA[Members of the Multinational Strategic Airlift Capability Heavy Airlift Wing conducted their third humanitarian relief mission Feb. 2, from Papa to Port-au-Prince, Haiti.<br />
<br />
The mission was flown at the request of the government of Sweden and included supplies donated by Bulgaria. <br />
<br />
The Bulgarian relief supplies were transported by the Bulgarian air force to Papa AB, then prepared for onward movement to combine with cargo being assembled in Sweden. <br />
<br />

For every mission a pilot at Red Flag flies, the CIC briefs them three times, and the briefers adopt a special mentality to do it.<br />
<br />
"We have to try to outsmart the bad guys," said Staff Sgt. Jeremy Dyck, the Red Flag CIC night NCO in charge deployed from the 48th Operations Group at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England. "We try to figure out what they're going to do next so the pilots know what to expect. The young adults, although not touring as part of official NDI business, said they came away with a more accurate view of the military installation, and are eager to take their knowledge and apply it in their work places.<br />

"I have heard of the Transit Center and I wanted to see it for myself," said Turdumbaev Uranbek, the trip organizer. <br />

The team members includes emergency medicine physicians, critical care nurses and&#160;respiratory therapists. <br />

Aircrew training at Altus AFB came to a halt&#160;when a severe ice storm swept through the base Jan. 28,&#160;knocking out power to the base.<br />
<br />
"This ice storm has had a major impact on our training operation," said Col. Ty Thomas, the 97th Air Mobility Wing commander.
