Airmen are called to “Innovate, Accelerate and Thrive” as the U.S. Air Force and Department of the Air Force approach their 75th anniversaries on Sept. 18, 2022. Airmen will always be there to provide America with the airpower it needs to defend the nation, deter or defeat our adversaries, reassure our partners and allies, and help diplomacy proceed from a position of strength.

Camp Bucca Transfer to Government of Iraq

U.S. Division-South finalized the transfer of Camp Bucca to the Government of Iraq on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010. The Government of Iraq took possession of the base, raising the Iraqi flag, and renaming the facility the Basra Logistics City. Brig. Gen. Randall Dragon signed the contract with the Basra provincial Government. The turn over and commercialization of the Basra Logistics City is a tremendous opportunity for economic growth in the Basra province. Sophisticated water and water waste treatment plants will provide clean water and waste treatment for thousands of Basra citizens. Includes sound bite from Brig. Gen.
