LIEUTENANT GENERAL MARC E. ROGERS Retiring effective July 1, 2012 Lt. Gen. Rogers is the Inspector General of the Air Force, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Washington, D.C. The Inspector General reports to the Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Air Force on matters concerning Air Force effectiveness, efficiency, and the military discipline of active duty, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard forces. The Inspector General provides inspection policy, and oversees the inspection and evaluation system for all Air Force nuclear and conventional forces; oversees Air Force counterintelligence operations and chairs the Air Force Intelligence Oversight Panel; investigates fraud, waste and abuse; oversees criminal investigations; and provides oversight of complaints resolution programs. He also performs any other duties directed by the Secretary or the Chief of Staff. The Inspector General is responsible for two field operating agencies: the Air Force Inspection Agency and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. General Rogers enlisted in the Air Force in 1974, and was assigned to the Space Positioning Division at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1978 and was commissioned through the Air Force ROTC program. He has served as electronic combat pilot, Aggressor pilot, instructor pilot, evaluation pilot, operations officer and commander. General Rogers has commanded at the squadron, group, wing and numbered air force levels. He has led deployed combat operations in both Iraq and Bosnia. General Rogers has served in a variety of positions at command headquarters including the Joint Staff, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Tactical Air Command, U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Air Education and Training Command, and Air Force Materiel Command. He led joint warfighting integration efforts for U.S. Joint Forces Command and served as the first chairman of the joint Command and Control Functional Capabilities Board for the Joint Requirements Oversight Council. He also served at the Pentagon as Director, Chief of Staff of the Air Force Operations Group, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, and as Chief, Persian Gulf Branch for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. General Rogers commanded the multinational 31st Expeditionary Operations Group at Aviano Air Base, Italy; the 49th Fighter Wing, Holloman AFB, N.M.; and 19th Air Force, Randolph AFB, Texas.
