Brigadier General RICHARD G. BULGIN

Brigadier General Richard F. Bulgin is deputy director of logistics at Headquarters, U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany.

General Bulgin is from Fort Smith, Ark., was born in 1919, and attended the University of Arkansas. He entered the military service as an aviation cadet in 1940. He was stationed at Barksdale Army Airfield, La., and Kirtland Army Airfield until 1945, and was then assigned to Wiesbaden, Germany as commander, 89th Station Complement Squadron.

He graduated from the Air Command and Staff school in 1949 and became a squadron commander at Forbes Air Force Base, Kan. He served as chief of Logistics Division, Headquarters 2d Air Force until 1953 and from January 1953 until October 1953 he saw action in Korea. He flew 421 combat hours there.

General Bulgin graduated from the Army War College in 1959 and was then assigned to Sculthorpe, England with the 47th Bomb Wing. In 1962 he graduated from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, was assigned to the strategic plans and policy division, Office of The Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1963, and assumed his present position in 1968. From 1966 to 1968 he was deputy director for operations, J-3, USEUCOM.
