MAJOR GENERAL JOHN POSNER


Maj. Gen. John Posner is the Director of Global Power Programs in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force, Acquisition, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. He is responsible for the directing, planning and programming of more than 170 Air Force, joint services and international programs with an annual budget exceeding $12 billion.

General Posner was commissioned in 1980 upon graduation from the U.S. Air Force Academy, and he has served in a variety of training and operational assignments in the F-15, F-16 and T-37 aircraft. He has also held a variety of national-level positions during three Air Staff and two Joint Staff tours, to include the Senior Military Assistant to the Under Secretary of the Air Force; the Deputy Chief of the Asia-Pacific Division (J5); and the Deputy Director for Operations (Operations Team One) in the National Military Command Center (J3). He has commanded the 27th Fighter Wing, Cannon Air Force Base, N.M.; the 363rd Expeditionary Operations Group (deployed), Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia; and the Battle Staff Training School, Hurlburt Field, Fla. Prior to his current assignment, he was the Deputy Commander of Combined Air Operations Center Seven, Component Command-Air Izmir, Allied Command Operations (NATO), Larissa, Greece. He is a command pilot with more than 4,000 hours, including more than 300 combat hours. He is authorized to wear the Master Acquisition Badge and the Senior Space Badge.
