MAJOR GENERAL JAMES P. CZEKANSKI Maj. Gen. James P. Czekanski, is the mobilization assistant to the Deputy Commander, U.S. Transportation Command, and Commander, Joint Transportation Reserve Unit, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. In this capacity, he advises the deputy commander on the mobilization and composition of Reserve forces assigned to the command. As the Joint Transportation Reserve Unit Commander, he ensures Reservists assigned are ready to perform wartime and contingency duties. General Czekanski was commissioned through the ROTC program at the University of Massachusetts. He attended undergraduate pilot training at Williams AFB, Ariz. He has more than 250 hours on 55 combat missions in the AC-130A in Southeast Asia. The general has accumulated more than 7,500 flying hours in the C-5A, C-141B, C-130A/B/E/H, HC-130H/N/P and KC-135R. He has commanded a rescue and recovery squadron, a tactical airlift group and two airlift wings. Prior to assuming his current position, he was the Commander of the Air Force Reserve's 4th Force, and an Air Reserve Technician and member of the Senior Executive Service. He retired from federal civil service on Sept. 1, 2003.
