MAJOR GENERAL DOUGLAS S. METCALF

Maj. Gen. Douglas S. Metcalf is the mobilization assistant to the Commander, Aeronautical Systems Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The center is responsible for development and acquisition of advanced aerospace systems. The general advises the ASC commander concerning acquisition and investment strategy for the $19 billion annually expended exploiting advancing technologies to enhance Air Force combat capability and effectiveness. He also serves as a principal member of the Joint Aeronautical Commander's Group Working Board, and represents the commander throughout government, industry and academia.

General Metcalf enlisted in the Army Reserve in 1963. He was commissioned through the ROTC program at the University of Oklahoma in 1969. He served on active duty as an aircraft maintenance officer at Phan Rang Air Base and Danang AB, Vietnam, as well as Travis AFB, Calif. He has served continuously in the unit Reserve and individual mobilization augmentee program since departing active service in 1973.

In his civilian occupation, he is president of a telecommunications consulting firm. He is also an elected City Commissioner for Winter Park, Fla.
