Brig. Gen. Peter M. Bonetti is Director for Strategic Capabilities Policy on the National Security Council, the White House, Washington, D.C. He is the principal advisor to the President of the United States and the National Security Advisor for issues related to strategic deterrence to include strategic cooperation, force structure, employment planning guidance, weapons development, command and control and resource allocation.
Brig. Gen. Bonetti enlisted in the Air Force in 1989 and received his commission in 1995. Later that same year, he earned his Combat Mission Ready status in the Minuteman III weapon system. He has commanded the 90th Missile Wing at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, and the 10th Missile Squadron at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana. He has also served at various key staff positions in Air Force Space Command, Air Force Global Strike Command, U.S. Africa Command and the U.S. Air Force Headquarters. Prior to his current assignment, he was the Director, Nuclear Enterprise Directorate, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
