Brigadier General LANCE R. FRENCH

Brig. Gen. Lance R. French serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Contracting, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, Washington, D.C. He is responsible for all aspects of contracting relating to the acquisition of weapons systems, logistics, operational and enterprise efforts for the Air Force and provides contingency contracting support to the geographic combatant commanders. He leads a highly skilled staff of mission-focused business leaders and acquisition change agents to deliver $825 billion in United States Air Force and Space Force platforms. Additionally, he is the Contracting Functional Manager for nearly 9,000 professionals, who execute programs worth approximately $99 billion annually for the Department of the Air Force.

As a career contracting officer, he has served as a squadron, group and wing commander. He has also served at major command, combatant command and Air Staff levels and deployed in support of operations Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

Prior to his current assignment, he was the Commander of the Air Force Installation Contracting Center. Brig. Gen. French has also served as served as the Commander, Defense Contract Management Agency, Western Regional Command Carson, California, where he led a workforce of 2,500 contracting, quality assurance, engineering and manufacturing acquisition professionals and support personnel across 12 primary and nine tertiary Contract Management offices located across the Western U.S.
