Brig. Gen. Jason M. Janaros is the Chief of Global Talent Management Strategy, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. He leads the talent management strategy for the 3.4 million uniformed and civilian members of the Department of Defense workforce. Additionally, he works across the military departments, Joint Staff, Office of the Secretary of Defense, and with interagency partners to help lead the development and implementation of the Total Force talent acquisition and workforce development.
Prior to assuming his current position, Brig. Gen. Janaros was the Director, Air Force Reserve Personnel. He was responsible for developing and integrating Air Force Reserve personnel and services programs and policies to meet Total Force strategic objectives. He was charged with the responsibility to position the Air Force Reserve to support combatant commander requirements worldwide by managing resources affecting a budget of nearly $450 million for accessions, recruiting, retention, education, training, force structure, sustainment, compensation and benefits impacting 360,000 Reservists and their dependents worldwide.
Brig. Gen. Janaros earned his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at Florida State University in 1995. He has held several command and staff positions at the base, numbered air force, major command, combatant command, and Joint Staff levels. Brig. Gen. Janaros is a Joint Qualified Officer, having served on the Joint Staff as a Politico-Military Planner and Deputy Executive Assistant to the J5 Director as well as the Deputy Executive Assistant to the Commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command.
