DR. TODD B. HALE, PH.D.

Dr. Todd B. Hale, a member of the scientific and professional cadre of senior executives, is the Senior Scientist for Multi-Domain Integration, Systems Technology Office, Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He specializes in the science and technology needed to develop and deliver superior U.S. warfighting capabilities combining the operational air, space and cyber domains of the combat Air Force and Space Force. Dr. Hale’s work guides complex research investment portfolios that mature, integrate, demonstrate, and transition high-impact technologies enabling disruptive and lethal warfighting capabilities.

Dr. Hale began his career with the Air Force in 1993 when he was commissioned as a graduate of the ROTC program at the Milwaukee School of Engineering in Wisconsin. During his 20 years on active duty, he served in a variety of positions within the Science and Technology community. Notable assignments include B‑52 Defensive System Test Engineer at the Air Warfare Center, Advanced Radar Signal Processing Research Engineer at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Deputy Department Head at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Chief Scientist of a special technology group at the National Reconnaissance Office and Program Manager at the Air Force Research Laboratory. 

Upon retiring from active duty in 2013, Dr. Hale worked in industry as a sensing and survivability subject matter expert. In 2015, he entered Air Force service a second time as a civilian with the Air Force Research Laboratory. Notable service includes program Chief Scientist and technology directorate Chief Engineer. Dr. Hale has fifty publications and technical reports including a book chapter and patent. He is internationally recognized and provides expert counsel and advice to AFRL management and the professional staff as well as to other government organizations. In addition, he participates in numerous national panels, committees and advisory groups.
