Dr. Raymond M. Kolonay, a member of the scientific and professional cadre of senior executives, is the Senior Scientist for Advanced Structures, Aerospace Systems Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He serves as the principal scientific authority and independent researcher in the field of novel and extreme environment aerospace structures. In this role, he initiates, technically plans, coordinates, evaluates, and conducts research and development efforts that increase the Air Force and Space Force capabilities relative to this critical technological area.
Dr. Kolonay began his career with the Air Force in 1987 at the Flight Dynamics Laboratory, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. He has over 35 years of experience in the development, use, and support of mechanical analysis and automated design methods and tools. Prior to his current position he was the Director for the United States Air Force Research Lab’s, Aeronautical Systems Directorate’s Multidisciplinary Science and Technology Center where he was responsible for the development and validation of revolutionary design methods for fixed wing aircraft. Earlier in his career Dr. Kolonay held a position at the General Electric Company Corporate Research and Development Center. At GE CRD he was the project leader for the Federated Intelligent Product EnviRonment (FIPER) - a Network-Centric e-Engineering environment enabling global access and communication between engineering data and applications for analysis and design of mechanical systems.
