Brigadier General LUCAS TEEL

Brig. Gen. Luke Teel is the senior U.S. military officer in Canada and serves as Deputy Commander, Canadian North American Aerospace Defense Region, and Deputy Joint Force Air Component Commander for 1 Canadian Air Division, Winnipeg, Manitoba. He assumes command of coalition forces assigned to Canadian North American Aerospace Defense Command Region in the Canadian Commander’s absence. Brig. Gen. Teel leads force employment of airpower, while ensuring the region’s battle staff, air operations center, flying units, radar sensors, intelligence and joint, all-domain command-and-control assets provide joint air, space and maritime warning and control.

Brig. Gen. Teel commissioned in 2001 from the U.S. Air Force Academy, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in economics. After completing a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, he attended the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot training at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. He has served as an Evaluator Pilot and wing Weapons Officer. He commanded at the squadron and wing level and has served in the Pentagon as an Aide-de-Camp to the Secretary of the Air Force and a Senior Plans Advisor to the Secretary of Defense.

Brig. Gen. Teel is a command pilot with over 3,000 hours. He has 650 combat hours over Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya and the Horn of Africa. Prior to assuming his current position, Brig. Gen. Teel was the Commander of the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing in Southwest Asia.
