Brig. Gen. Todd A. Hofford is the Vice Director of Operations, National Guard Bureau Joint Staff, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. He is responsible for the planning, coordination and integration of National Guard Counterdrug, Logistics, Engineering, Protection, Training, Force Development and Cyber Operations at the national level. He supports the Chief of the National Guard Bureau and Joint Staff Directors caring for the 440,000-guardsman serving the Department of War.
Brig. Gen. Hofford enlisted in the Air National Guard in 1993 as a Munitions Systems Specialist. He received his officer commission from the Academy of Military Science in 1998 earning the top Honor Graduate award. He attended Undergraduate Pilot Training in 1999 graduating #1 in the primary phase. In 2000, he attended the F-15C Basic Course.
Brig. Gen. Hofford's distinguished career includes service at the 142nd Fighter Wing as an F-15C Combat-Ready Instructor/Evaluator and Alert Pilot, with four deployments. He also served as a qualified Fighter Officer for Air Forces Northern and First Air Force. His leadership roles continued as Commander of both the 142nd Maintenance Squadron and Group, during which he deployed as an aviator/commander in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. As the Commander, 142nd Wing, Brig. Gen. Hofford led the unit through a historic milestone: the onboarding of the F-15EX Eagle II, making it the first operational unit to receive this advanced multi-domain fighter. Transitioning to the National Capitol Region, he served as the Acting Director of the Air National Guard Operations Division A3/10. A dedicated member of the Annapolis, Maryland community, Brig. Gen. Hofford volunteers his time at his local church. Prior to his current position, the general was the Director, Joint Actions Control Office, National Guard Bureau Joint Staff, the Pentagon, Arlington, Va.
