Peter Sturdivant, SES, PE, PG

Mr. Peter “Pete” Sturdivant serves as the Director of Intercontinental Ballistic Missile infrastructure for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. In this capacity, he provides executive leadership and strategic oversight for all infrastructure, construction and facility initiatives supporting the nation’s ICBM enterprise. Mr. Sturdivant is the principal AFNWC representative on ICBM civil engineering matters across the Department of War and all levels of government, and he routinely engages with senior industry leaders to advance collaboration on energy, environmental stewardship, design innovation, construction trends, program performance and strategic partnerships. He directs the full lifecycle of ICBM infrastructure activities, including program management and acquisition oversight, facility investment planning, design and construction execution, workforce and career field development, energy and environmental compliance, restoration programs and audit readiness — all while integrating leading acquisition and program management principles to ensure mission success.

Mr. Sturdivant assumed his current position with the Air Force in September 2025. Prior to this appointment, he served as a civilian leader with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers beginning in 2002. His previous assignments include Director of the Health Infrastructure Office at USACE Headquarters; Chief of Engineering and Construction for the Northwestern Division; Chief of the Engineering Division for the Omaha District; Chief of Engineering and Construction at USACE Headquarters; and Chief of Construction for the Omaha District. He also held multiple field leadership roles as an Area Engineer, Resident Engineer and Warranted Contracting Officer in both CONUS and OCONUS assignments. Over the course of his career, Mr. Sturdivant has led and supervised teams responsible for delivering hundreds of complex construction projects, including multiple billion-dollar infrastructure efforts supporting the Army, Air Force and Department of Veterans Affairs. He has been an instructor for USACE’s PROSPECT Design-Build Construction course and the Construction Quality Management for Contractors program and has consistently advanced initiatives focused on delivering mission-critical infrastructure in support of the nation’s strategic deterrence mission.

Prior to Federal civilian service, Mr. Sturdivant worked as an Engineering Geologist for geotechnical and environmental engineering firms in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His area(s) of expertise included slope stability analysis, geotechnical exploration methods, pavement, foundation and wastewater system design, environmental site assessments and materials testing. Prior to this, he served on active duty as an Engineer Officer in the U.S. Army from 1993 to 1997 in Germany, Kuwait and the former Yugoslavia (Operation Joint Endeavor).
