Maj. Gen. Christopher A. Eason is the Judge Advocate General of the Air Force (20th) and the senior uniformed legal advisor for the Space Force, Department of the Air Force, Washington, D.C. In these capacities, Maj. Gen. Eason serves as the Legal Adviser to the Secretary of the Air Force, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, the Chief of Space Operations and all officers and agencies of the Department of the Air Force. He directs all judge advocates in the performance of their duties and is responsible for the professional oversight of more than 4,450 Total Force judge advocates, civilian attorneys, enlisted paralegals and civilian employees worldwide, overseeing military justice, operations and international law, and civil law and litigation functions at all levels of Air Force and Space Force commands.
Maj. Gen. Eason obtained his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Oklahoma State University and Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He joined the Air Force through Commissioned Officer Training in 2004 and has served more than 20 years as a judge advocate in the active-duty Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves with assignments in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Southwest Asia. Notably, Maj. Gen. Eason served as a prosecutor with the Office of Military Commissions, where he prosecuted two al-Qaeda members to conviction for Law of War violations, including the murder of a Special Operations Forces soldier and Usama bin Laden’s Media Secretary for, among other crimes, his involvement with the 2000 USS Cole bombing and the 9/11 attacks. Prior to his current position, Maj. Gen. Eason served as the Chief of Staff and Commander of the Oklahoma Air National Guard.
Maj. Gen. Eason previously served as a federal prosecutor with the Department of Justice. He has prosecuted hundreds of cases including complex white collar, high profile public corruption, and international drug trafficking and money laundering cases involving transnational criminal and terrorist organizations. To this end, he has traveled throughout Central and South America, Europe and Southeast Asia leading multi-jurisdictional teams and building effective partnerships with senior foreign government officials. Maj. Gen. Eason is admitted to practice law in Oklahoma and Texas and has litigation experience in military commissions, courts-martial and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, Eastern District of Virginia, Southern District of California, and the Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas.
