B-roll of Ominato, Japan (March 17, 2011) – Sailors and Japan Ground Self Defense Force Troops embarked aboard USS Tortuga (LSD-46) prepare JGSDF vehicles and equipment to be offloaded from the ship. The 93 vehicles and pieces of equipment were on-loaded over the course of two days using cranes and Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1627. All vehicles and equipment are being transferred to the island of Honshu by LCU-1627, a 20-hour evolution, to assist in humanitarian relief efforts on the island of Honshu after an earthquake and tsunami struck the island Friday, March 11, 2011.
