3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division
Nov. 7, 2012 | 2:19
3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division recently conducted Operation Hammer Strike, a brigade level exercise that included a combined arms breach and joint air attack. The exercise demonstrated the brigade's ability to plan, resource, integrate and synchronize internal and external capabilities during the tactical training event. Key aspects of the training included the employment of the Assault Breacher Vehicle, Close Combat Support, Close Air Support, HIMARS and simulated casualty evacuation from point of injury to Role II Care. Key leaders from Third Army/ARCENT, participating units and Kuwait Land and Air Force counterparts also attended the event. Brigade leaders believe Operation Hammer Strike can be viewed as a successful training model for future deployments of Brigade Combat Teams in support of U.S. Central Command. Produced by Spc. Derrick Ramey. Includes soundbites from Capt. Stephen Harmon, from Trussville, Ala., company commander, D Company, 1-15 IN, 3 ABCT, 3 ID, Maj. Stephen Capehart, from Fort Benning, Ga., brigade operations officer, 3 ABCT, 3 ID, and Cpl. Logan Steinbach, from Loveland, Colo., D Company, 1-15 IN, 3 ABCT, 3 ID.
