Secretary of the Army John McHugh conducted a news conference at Cairns Army Airfield, Fort Rucker, Ala. today at 1300. He opened with a recap of his trip by mentioning his visit with warrant officer leaders at USAWOCC, the CDC-- proud of the work people do and ‘good folks taking care of adorable children’; Helicopter Overwater Survival Training – a very important part of AVN training where he was impressed with the Soldiers’ professionalism, a luncheon with Captains, Safety Center – where he saw the real world training for investigators, fire fighters and such. He answered questions about budget impacts and explained the effects of sequestration, CR and OCO shortfalls. He said funding those deployed and next deploying are the priority.
