Technology creates facial prostheses for wounded warriors

Dave Carballeyra reviews Capt. Ryan Voltin's scans May 7, 2010, at MacKown Dental Clinic at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Stereolithography is a rapid prototyping method which allows the fabrication of anatomically-accurate, three-dimensional epoxy and acrylic resin models from various types of medical data. The technology helps build replacement ears and noses that will fit perfectly. Mr. Carballeyra is the stereolithography lab supervisor at the MacKown Dental Clinic.
