Horses Healing Heroes

Laurie Willmott (right), owner and founder of Spirit Therapies in Las Vegas, Nev., and several volunteers teach Kim Tanner, a retired Army transportation specialist, the art of horseback riding as part of the Horses Healing Heroes program. He sustained severe injuries after being struck by an improvised explosive device in Iraq in 2005. The program serves active-duty military and veterans who have been diagnosed with physical and or mental challenges. (U.S. Air Force photo/Master Sgt. Kevin J. Gruenwald)
