Humanitarian mission impacts team, residents
Navy Cmdr. (Dr.) Amy O'Boyle and Navy Lt. Jennifer Ftiscar perform surgery on a local woman July 25 at Espiritu Santo hospital in Vanuatu. Commander O'Boyle is a an obstetrics/gynecological surgeon, and Lieutenant Ftiscar is an OB/GYN resident, both from Naval Medical Center Portmouth, Va. They were part of an OB/GYN surgical team that visited Espiritu Santo island in the nation of Vanuatu to train medical staff and perform surgery. The team was part of the Oceania Humanitarian Assistance Mission that brought medical, dental and engineering servicemembers to perform civil assistance projects on Vanuatu, Nauru and Kiribati July 20 through 30.
