SAVANNAH, Ga., (AFPN) -- Diane Hayes hands the phone to her son Kion so he can talk to his father Staff Sgt. Herbert Hayes, stationed at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea. He calls every day to check on his family and talk to his wife and children. Sergeant Hayes received emergency leave after his family was forced to evacuate Keesler Air Force Base, Miss., a day before Hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coast.
