intense combat training

A member of the 5th French Marine Regiment translates a page of desert combat training instructions for U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Ryan Donofrio (right) during a course which began May 31, 2011, in the Bour Ougoul training area in Djibouti. The 10-day course provided nearly 120 French and 40 U.S. service members with a basic knowledge of field tactics and survival techniques to use in a desert environment. Petty Officer Donofrio is an explosive ordnance disposal technician with Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. R.J. Biermann)
