BRIGADIER GENERAL MICHAEL LUTTON

Brigadier General Michael Lutton is the Principal Assistant Deputy Administrator for Military Application, National Nuclear Security Administration, Department of Energy, Washington, D.C. He assists the Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs to ensure the nation sustains safe, secure, and effective nuclear weapons.

Gen. Lutton is a career space and missile officer. He has served in multiple weapon systems including the Peacekeeper and Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile systems and the Milstar satellite communications system. Gen. Lutton is a graduate of the United States Air Force Weapons School. He also served as weapons officer instructor, Weapons Squadron Operations Officer and Weapons Squadron Commander. Gen. Lutton commanded the USAF's only group providing initial training for the nation's space and Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) operations and ICBM and air launched cruise missile maintenance forces.

Gen. Lutton also served as a weapons officer in the 32d Air Operations Group and served in OPERATION Allied Force. In addition to his operations experience, Gen. Lutton completed staff tours at the Major Command, Headquarters Air Force and Combatant Command level. Prior to his current assignment, Gen. Lutton was the 91st Missile Wing Commander at Minot AFB, North Dakota.
