Remembering Col. Gail Halvorsen
Retired Col. Gail Halvorsen, also known as the "Candy Bomber," passed away Feb. 16, 2022. He was 101 years old. Starting his career in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942, Halvorsen served as a pilot until his retirement in 1974, after accumulating more than 8,000 flying hours and 31 years of military service. Halvorsen went down in history for his selfless acts during the Berlin Airlift in 1948 and 1949 by attaching handkerchief parachutes to chocolate bars and dropping them from his aircraft to the children below. SCODs
The implementation of officer SCODs will occur in phases for Regular Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard Airmen. The first SCOD for officers will begin with first and second lieutenants on Oct. 31, 2022, followed by colonels on Feb. 28, 2023, lieutenant colonels and majors on May 31, 2023, and captains on Aug. 31, 2023. AETC publishes first competency-based civilian Learning Professionals career series education and training plan
The first competency-based 1750 civilian career series education and training plan for Instructional System Specialists has been published and is now available for use. This effort for the Instructional Systems Series career field, led by Air Education and Training Command’s A3 Credentialing division, leads the way for the Department of Air Force to establish the foundation for integrating competencies into an education and training plans in the future.

Around the Air Force: Cope North 22, Optimized Flying, Cyber Airmen at Red Flag
