AIR FORCE TESTING SYNTHETIC FUEL
On Sept. 19, 2006, an Air Force aircraft flew using synthetic fuel for the first time. A B-52 Stratofortress took off from Edwards AFB, Calif. , which two of the bomber's eight engines used synthetic fuel. On Dec. 15, 2006, B-52 Stratofortress flew all eight engines using synthetic fuel.

Air Force tests child care subletting app at 8 installations
The Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center is testing a mobile app designed to centralize and streamline the subletting of short-term slots at military child development centers this summer. The app, called Kinderspot, earned first place at the 2020 AFIMSC Innovation Rodeo. To design a tool that would benefit military families, AFIMSC partnered with Oddball, a digital services team specializing in transforming government software, and worked closely with the Air Force Services Center to shape the app and processes to align with other child and youth program priorities and efforts. Air Force to allow longer braids, ponytails, bangs for women
Upon publication of the new standards in Air Force Instruction 36-2903 in February, female Airmen will be able to wear their hair in up to two braids or a single ponytail with bulk not exceeding the width of the head and length not extending below a horizontal line running between the top of each sleeve inseam at the under arm through the shoulder blades. In addition, women’s bangs may now touch their eyebrows, but not cover their eyes. (Courtesy graphic)
